It’s always a bit discouraging to see the great generational divide in the online sewing world. Wish it didn’t look like the “best sewing blogs” had an age cut-off.

But they are “Great, great, great, great, (ad nauseam), who can argue with a review like that?

I really think the divide has to do more with taste, style & current fashion trends than age…but that’s just my 2 cents 🙂 Peter is a good example, he hangs in there with the under 30 set because he keeps up to the minute with fashion and knows no fear with trying bold trends.

It was a limited sampling of people polled so the responses may have skewed younger. Maybe for next year’s post Maddie can open it up to all her readers to vote.

Yeah I think you miss out on some of the really talented sewers that way. I follow a few that technique wise blows most of these gals out of the water but their styles aren’t trendy and their blogs not all pretty, polished and monetized.

But I would expect a Maddie list to reflect what is her style since such things are subjective and need to reflect her mission.

yeah.. a bit discouraging but then whatever. Us oldsters still have fun and do a lotta cool shit whether we get noticed or not. Not gonna let it bother me!

SOOOO many of my favorite ladies!! And I love reading these sort of reviews because I always get introduced to a few more blogs to add to my already bursting-at-the-seams (ha… sewing sayings) blog roll!

I’m surprised Clothing Engineer didn’t make fastest sewer. She makes brilliant bras too. Under 35 I believe but skews less trendy.

A great roundup of all of the blogs I love to read as well as some new ones to check out, thanks for putting this together!
Maybe next year I’ll make the list as well 🙂

Nice to hear of a couple of new to me sewing blogs. I love these blogs, but I think it’s more a ‘my friends’ favourites’ list than a true ‘best of’…

I read both posts and found a few bloggers I didn’t know about (wonderful) and many I did and couldn’t agree more with the ranking. Though I definitely have to say there are so many that I don’t see on this list. I do think Elle has a point as I have so many in my reader that are on the more mature side who have a lot of knowledge to impart and who have wonderful and seriously amazing blogs (Carolyn, from Diary of a Sewing Fanatic and Erica B, just to name a couple). This would definitely have been a huge undertaking though. Lots and lots of sewing blogs out there to choose from. A great start, I think!

I’m thrilled to be on your list Maddie! Thanks for including a “Guy Sewing” category. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of TaylorTailor yet, I will definitely be spending some time reading his blog today! Thank you for creating this list!
