So what was all that Go Fund Me stuff about? What was I raising money for? What I’m the world was I designing? Drumroll please…
This Tuesday and Wednesday, I’ll be joining seven other indie lingerie designers at Daylight Studios in NYC to show my first true collection. Yes! More than one style! Underwires, check. Bodysuits, check check! I’m also super stoked to announce that The Nina Set will be available in more sizes and colors (blush pink and lavender). Today, I’m will introduce the collection, and how you can follow along with my Big Apple adventures next week to sell a shit ton of panties. The struggle is real ; )
First, the inspiration. It came from the book, Ann of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. My favorite quotes is below.
“Oh, it’s delightful to have ambitions. I’m so glad I have such a lot. And there never seems to be any end to them- that’s the best of it. Just as soon as you attain to one ambition you see another one glittering higher up still. It does make life so interesting.”
To book follows the feisty, funny and above all unabashedly passionate Anne. She is a red-headed, freckle-faced orphan who faces the world with absolutely nothing but sheer force. Anne’s adventures throughout the novel feel similar to my own this past year. In August, I left a very stable corporate job to pursue Madalynne full time and am on a mission to achieve my BIG panty dreams. About 7 months after I made that leap, I’m happy to report that so far, everything is working out. I feel very blessed that I’m finally able to live the life I want wholeheartedly.
Also, Anne continues to be a role model a century after the book was written. Considering the political climate in America today, the collection encourages women to stand up and stand out for their rights, their bodies, their style, their lingerie. So cliche – I know – but so true.
All fabrics were sourced in North America and the entire collection is made in the USA, Brooklynn to be exact.
Serena: An off the shoulder bodysuit with flared sleeves. The body is lined with jersey to provide comfort and the neckline and leg openings are finished with soft elastic.
Maeve: Another off the shoulder bodysuit! Just like Serena, the body of Maeve is lined with jersey and the neckline and leg openings are finished with picot elastic. The neckline has a flattering shirred overlay and would be the perfect pairing for jeans or a skirt.
Margo: Named after my mom, who was a stunning woman, Margo is an underwire bra with a high neck and keyhole opening. It has foam cups, a navy blue lace with scallop edges and mesh back band.
Barrett: Named after Nicole’s sister, Barrett is a longline bralette featuring triangle cups and a cutout at the center. It doesn’t have underwire, but it does have channeling at the cup and side seams to add support and help anchor the bra to the body.
Ayalet: Last but certainly not least is Ayalet, a sheer, midi dress to be worn as a layering piece. It is a soft jersey that I could see being worn at home as loungewear or thrown over jeans as outerwear.
