Now Available for Sale: Madalynne X Simplicity Patterns!

release-post-5

I’ve teased you enough on Instagram and Twitter, hinting at the release, the patterns and the video for the Madalynne X Simplicity lingerie patterns. I won’t make you wait any longer. Hopefully, you weren’t holding your breath : )  Some of the patterns are still in transit to stores and distribution centers, but some are available now for you to get your (bramaking) hands on. I’ll be updating this post and once all packages are received, I’ll create a dedicate page where all information will live. First…

When Simplicity approached me to create two lingerie patterns, I was taken aback. Me? I remember sitting inside Joann’s Fabrics thumbing through pattern catalogs when I first began sewing. “What will I make next?” I was around 18 years old then and never in a million years did I think that just 10 years later, I would be in one of those catalogs. Thank you to the entire Simplicity Team, who were a pleasure to work with from day one. Holla at Sharissa, Deb, Betsy and all the other fine ladies I worked with!

THE PATTERNS:
8228: Two soft cup bras (bralettes) and one panty. The halter bralette has a plunging neckline, scalloped lace edges and a double hook and eye closure at the back. It has channeling at the cup seam (but no underwires) which adds some support. The racerback bralette has a sweetheart neckline with scallop lace edges throughout. The panty is high-waisted with lace side panels. The bras are available in sizes 32A through 42DD and the panty is available in sizes XS-XL.

update: the pattern says that you will need a hook and eye for the bralette (view B). This is incorrect, you do not need one. So don’t think you’re cray cray and wonder where the heck it goes.

I’ve also been hearing that there is some confusion about sizing. For one woman – she normally wears a C cup, but based on her measurements, she would be I almost a DD according to the pattern. I recommended that she cut a D – in between the two.

8229: One underwire bra and one panty. The bra is a full band (vs a partial band) and has scalloped lace edges on the upper cups, a hook and eye closure at the back and adjustable straps. It provides moderate coverage and support. The panty is a basic, high-waisted silhouette. The bra is available in sizes 32A through 42DD and the panty is available in sizes XS-XL.

I’m excited that you’re offering an under wire bra pattern! I wonder… since DD is the average American cup size, why is that the largest size offered? Is it possible to use a cup from a larger band size to obtain a good fit for a larger bust? Will you be offering classes in sewing the underwire style? Thanks! Congrats!

As a small chested woman, my focus is on small chested women. While I have taught/helped larger chested ladies, I’m much more versed and knowledgeable with smaller sizes. Making a bra for large chested women seemed out of my scope and skill. However, as I learn/teach more, I hope to offer larger sizes.

Yes! I am offering classes on the underwire style – the October class has 1 spot left and the November class has 6 (I just opened up that class). Hope you can make it to a class!

Can’t help but agree with Meg, above. As an F-cup, I’d love to be able to sew an underwire bra for myself, but none of the few designers out there seem to want to help!
Is it something that could easily be adjusted (is there an equivalent of an FBA for a bra?)

I got my copy with a gorgeous lace kit yesterday from Tailormade Shoppe! Could NOT be happier! I can’t wait to see the video and future tutorials. Thank you SO much for releasing these patterns! They’re exactly what I wanted in my soft bra pattern life. And congratulations!! I can’t wait to see where else this bramaking journey takes you!

I was so disappointed to miss your class last April – I was in Philly just a week later. Thrilled to see the new patterns (congratulations!) and looking forward to trying my hand at bra making. I zoomed in on the pattern photos on the Tailor Made site hoping for a list of materials. Is that list available somewhere on your site? I’ll most likely need to purchase supplies online so it would be handy to know in advance and purchase everything at once. Thanks!

If you go to the product page for the bra kits on Tailor Made Shop, there is a list of all the supplies needed for each pattern.

September can’t be here fast enough! I live in Estonia so B’Wear is closest to order the patterns from.
As a small chested girl, I am actually happy that someone caters for smaller bewbies. Not all styles translate good when graded down/up.

I agree that some styles don’t translate well when graded up! I’ll be sure to post an update when all the patterns are available.

This is so exciting! I’ve been following your beautiful blog for awhile now and I always hoped you would start producing patterns. The bralettes look so pretty! I’m currently nursing my daughter, so I’m not really able to make one of these right now, but they will be at the top of my sewing list next year when I’m done!

These are so lovely! I am hoping that Canada will have them in stock as well. I looked online and the printable pattern is double the price of the paper pattern (it is usually the other way around).

I ordered the download from Simplicity, and am sitting here a day later with no email to actually download. I should have tried to just order a paper copy.

I am SO SUPER excited to try these patterns. And, as a small chested woman, I’m thrilled to see a couple patterns geared towards the fit challenges that come along with having smaller breasts.

Don’t know if you are aware but all the MADALYNNE LINGERIE KITS for your bra at Tailor Made Shop are sold out. I did not see any way to email them to ask if they will be restocking soon. Are there any other sources for fabrics and supplies?

Hi Maddie! Congrats, I’m super stoked for you. I’m thinking of giving this a go but Singapore is not the easiest place to get bra supplies. Any online shops to recommend though? Thanks!

Maddie, thank you so much for this pattern… Today I finally got the time to try the pattern and make a muslin to check out the cup, I have tried others and honestly I don’t have the time to fix the cup or alter the band, but your pattern is just perfection! I can not thank you enough. I also would love to make it in a swimsuit. I wish God to continue Blessing your talent and work.

I usually wear a 30D, do you think the band on the pattern would be easy to modify since the pattern only goes down to a 32? I would like to make 1 as proper fitting bras are hard to come by.

I recently purchased the Madalynne Simplicity 8228 pattern, loving the halter top bralette. I am new to sewing lingerie but I am having a hard time locating the needed materials & notions. I am having a very difficult time finding 8″ gallon lace or 8″ stretch lace. Is there any leeway in regards to the width of the lace? Another notion I have yet to find is a 2″ x 3″ hook & eye for bras. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have read about how some laces are softer(ie. =more comfortable) than others. How would I gauge that if searching online? What would the lace need to be made from? I also tried to obtain the items locally to no avail. Any assistant is much appreciated.
