Spring Inspiration

spring inspirationArtboard 1

By no means was it a brutal winter. I remember two years ago when the ‘polar vortex’ had us in the negative degrees for what seemed like weeks on end. I get chills just thinking about it. How in the heck did this Floridian make it through without packing her bags and saying sayonara to the City of Brotherly Love. “Sorry old man winter, but I’m out!” Even though temperatures have been mild, I’m still pining for it to be in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Bring on the heat, baby! I don’t usually write posts like this, but thought it would be a nice departure to show you what’s been getting my creative juices and sewing mojo flowing.

So I have some new ink. Serious ink too that extends from my shoulder to my wrist. You can read about it here. Some hate it, some have mixed reviews. I love it [insert heart emoji]. If there was an area of my body I am most self conscious about, it’s my arms. Madonna arms. Nothing against Madonna’s arms, but mine remind me of hers. About a year and a half ago, I met a girl named Avery at the gym. She was teaching a ‘yoga fusion’ class and on a whim, I attended. Never had I been so sore after using 3-5lb weights! We’ve become good friends since, and you can often spot her and I working out together on my Insta stories. Gym rats for life! We trade sewing lessons for personal training lessons. She even attended the PFAFF Open Sew Day in December. She doesn’t know it, but she’s been a huge inspiration for me to be accepting and proud of my body, and to show off my tattoo. Love what yo mama gave ya!

Blush pink, light blue and neon yellow. I’m OBSESSED with this color combo right now. They just work so perfectly together. At least I think so. They’ve been an inspiration when choosing fabric + trims for my soon-to-be-released bra kits, upcoming workshops, and a special collaboration this summer with Spoonflower and C.Banning. I’ll also be coming out with a blush pink Nina this summer! What’s funny is that while I like these colors together, I’d never wear them together. For lingerie, they look fab, but as an actual outfit, I’ll stick to my Levi’s and white tee.

Back to that collaboration with Spoonflower and C.Banning – this summer’s workshops are going to be outta this world! I have three new patterns coming out with Simplicity (shhh!), so for each session (June, July + August), I’ll be teaching one of the three. There’s going to be a bodysuit class! Vivi is attending too! I’ve teamed up with Cinne once again (we collabed last summer) to create custom fabrics with Spoonflower that are a nod to the traditional red white and blue stars + stripes. Kate Spade’s spring 2017 collection served as the inspo. Can’t get enough of those multi colored stripes!

Well that’s all I got for you today folks. Again, let me know what’s getting your creative juices going.
