all about being in the spirit. Is it just me or did winter, the holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Santa, knee high socks, fern scented candles and all things of the like kick in like that – KAPOW with a kung-fu punch before and after. POW! Sorry, I had to add that for effect. It seems like I woke up and thirty-eight degrees, Chapstick, and Frank Sinatra holiday tunes were the norm. Summer ain’t here no-mo kids.

The season kicked in full swing en la casa de Madalynne (more like an 800 sq. ft. apartment) last Saturday when I attended Terrain’s Holiday Open House (blog recap post to come). Christmas trees were on display, s’mores were roasting over a fire, a live band was playing holiday tunes, and twinkle lights were hung throughout the store. All that was needed was chestnuts roasted over an open fire. Oh, that was there too. As predicted, I returned to my chateau (again, more like an 800 sq. ft. apartment) and made pumpkin soup – which I decorated with cranberries on top – and watched a movie I’m too embarrassed to admit. What will next week bring? Might I don a tacky holiday sweater? Who knows but if I do, a “How I Wore It Post” would follow.

On the sewing front, lots have been happening. My near perfect bra and undie patterns are now perfected, well, as close to perfection as it’s going to get. With each fit sample I pattern and sew, I get better and better. I finally feel like I get the hang on this lingerie stuff and I’m excited to experiment with different silhouettes and construction methods. I also excited to show you some amazing stuff that I just started to put into the works. No, Sally, no hints and no clues allowed!

So, as I always ask, what are you up to this weekend?

Haha, I know exactly how you feel! The holidays always sneak up on me like this, and you’d think at some point I’d anticipate their coming. Happy weekend friend. Oh, and please wear a tacky Christmas sweater someday soon 🙂

ohmygod, I want to know what movie it was sooooooooo bad.

This weekend I’m contemplating making the long haul from the Bronx to Brooklyn for the Renegade Craft Fair. It may take more than a few cookies to bribe my kid to make the trip with me though….

I loved reading this first paragraph. And I’m glad you added the ‘POW!’ for effect. 🙂 The holidays have definitely popped up out of nowhere! I’m a girl who loves starting the holidays way too early but for the sake of others who aren’t quite as festive, I’ve been holding back a bit this year. But then all of a sudden it became acceptable to be in full holiday swing! Just out of nowhere.
ANYWAY, I hope you have a lovely weekend! I’ll be working a bit and also going out for brunch (my favorite), to a Thanksgiving party and to a birthday party, too. Needless to say, I’m so happy it’s the weekend.

Here is San Diego I think the holidays have been creeping up since August/September. I don’t know why, it is warm around that time.

This weekend I plan to sew up lingerie. This will be my first attempt.

Can’t wait to see what you have been up to with the lingerie. I work on Holiday decor for the Shabby Chic stores, so I have been in holiday mode myself for awhile too. I plan on sewing up Cation Design’s Dolman Sleeve top this weekend.

Working on the pattern I took off of a favorite pair of jeans using that Glad Press and Wrap stuff. Worked quite well actually now I just need to true and test.

Can’t wait to see what you’re working on!! Lingerie totally intimidates me, but I think it’s also got something to do with my body image–yikes!
I also love your elastic post, I love your passion for this!

Ahh, Christmastime! I can’t wait (we refuse to start Christmas chez Ginger until the day after Thanksgiving)! This weekend I’m working on my birthday dress… slowly and without much motivation since my birthday was A WEEK AGO and I don’t have an occasion to wear it anymore! 🙂

I bet your workplace is just holiday fest already! I wish it felt more like winter here. 90 degrees today… I might need to go somewhere cold to get in the mood.
