so-this-week-was

was about the end of summer and beginning of fall. Can you believe September is next week? No seriously, can you believe it? Really people, this can’t be! Where I live, Philadelphia, winter never left. Like that annoying coworker, it just hung around. Don’t quote me on this but I think the number of days that surpassed 90 degrees didn’t reach the double digits. This is ironic to say, but the cooler was warmly welcomed. The low temperatures and humidity meant that my hair was straight and my make-up didn’t melt like it usually does during peak heat season.

If you live in the U.S., this weekend is Labor Day weekend. To stay in the holiday spirit, I’m not going to labor too much. I’ll sew just a few stitches here and there and then call it a day. Maybe watch a movie, take a walk, or paint my nails. Ha! Who am I kidding? Four days off of work and you know damn well I’m going to spend a large chunk of it sewing! As Natasha said in a comment this week, “must sew all that is sewable.” Amen!

I know what you mean! I follow a lot of Australian blogger and it’s an interesting mix of odd/wierd when I read about the weather they’re experiencing – it’s the complete opposite!

If I didn’t understand β€œmust sew all that is sewable.” before, I certainly do after yesterday. I was fixing up my grandmother’s treadle sewing machine, and once I got it to work I wanted to sew so badly but I didn’t even have a little scrap of fabric around me. So, in the moment of desperation I checked the drawers and found a really old zipper. I sewed all around it. Probably not my proudest sewing moment, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Ha!
I hope you enjoy your long weekend!
